Terminology
- AOE: Shorthand for "Area of Effect", it refers to any spell that deals damage to multiple enemies in an area.
- AS: A quick shorthand reference to "Attack Speed."
- Assassin: A character who is built specifically to kill enemy champions, and is usually not seen often unless someone is low on health. Good examples would be Master Yi, Twitch, or Katarina players.
- CC: Shorthand for "Crowd Control" - Refers to effects such as Stun, Slow, Fear, Knock backs, etc. While it occasionally can also refer to Taunts, it is important to note that most spells that remove Crowd Control effects, such as Gangplank'sRemove Scurvy Ability do not end the Taunt effect.
- CS: A quick shorthand reference to "Critical Strike," a percent chance to deal 200% damage.
- DoT: Shorthand for "Damage over Time." Refers to Spells or Abilities such as poisoning effects, where the damage is split over several seconds.
- DPS: Stands for "Damage per Second." Often used to describe a character build that focuses on increasing their Damage per Second with items such as Phantom Dancer and Infinity Edge.
- Feed: Someone "feeding" the enemy means that they've died a lot, giving the enemy champions additional gold.
- Gank: This term is used to describe multiple champions ganging up on a single enemy. Particularly true when it's more than 3 against 1.
- Item Build: This is just a fancy term used to describe what items you work to achieve, and sometimes includes the order you attempt to achieve them - including any milestones such as "wait until level 6 to get..
- LS: LS stands for "Life Steal", which is a percent of health you take from an enemy whenever you deal damage.
- Mage: A character who can deal massive damage with spells, or has a very wide variety of spell effects in their arsenal, such as Annie or Veigar.
- MIA: Stands for "Missing in Action" and usually denotes either a lane or enemy champion to let allies know who's missing or from where.
- Mid: Refers to the middle lane.
- MS: Usually used as shorthand for "Movement Speed", though, sometimes refers to "Mana Steal", which is the same thing as Life Steal, except with mana.
- Nerf: Nerf is synonymous with "weaken." Often used when talking aboutChampions that are considered overpowered.
- Nuke: Usually refers to an Area of Effect spell, often used to assist in farming.
- OP: Shorthand for "Overpowered".
- Oracle: Used in reference to when a champion that has consumed the Oracle's Elixir item to gain stealth detection.
- QQ: Supposed to look like crying eyes, usually used to insult a player who's complaining about something or as an attempt to upset an enemy player.
- Silence: A type of spell effect that makes the afflicted target unable to cast spells for a period of time.
- Squishy: Used to describe a character that has very low health, and usually low health regeneration as well.
- Stealth: An ability that makes a champion invisible to the enemy.
- Support: Usually used to describe a hero whose spells are used to give allies boosts.
- Zerks: Refers to the item Berserker's Greaves.
